What's with people who define their political, religious, or moral views based on what someone else believes? For example, a lot of religious people run their own lives, and all too often other people's, based on what their sacred texts ordain. They think anything Jesus, Muhammad, or what have you abhorred is something they should abhor themselves without critically evaluating it. You see the same pattern in a lot of political ideologues; they even name their ideologies after their political idols, be they Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, or Thomas Jefferson. That I find especially annoying, because when you name your political or philosophical theory after someone else, the name tells me less about WHAT you believe than WHOM you're getting your beliefs from.
I have no problem with admiring certain individuals or seeing them as inspirational, but I don't like it when people try to align their opinions with others' just because those others are popular or famous. Everyone is flawed, even the people we respect, so doing simply what a certain someone else would do doesn't guarantee doing the right thing all the time. We should do what we consider right based on our own reason, not conformity with our idols.

New commission prices
I felt that I was undervaluing my own artwork and not making enough money with my commissions, so I changed my prices to the below: $35 for a single character with a plain background. Add $25 for each additional character you wanted added to the illustration. Add $30 if you want any kind of environment (either natural or architectural) for the background. Note me for my email address so you know where to send the money.
Priestess of the Lost Colony - OUT TODAY!
A headstrong Egyptian priestess, her brother, their sacked colony—and a rescue mission. When Itaweret’s beloved Per-Pehu falls to the tyrannical Scylax, she and her brother Bek lead a mission to save her captured people and depose Scylax. Along the way, they run into all kinds of perils, friends, and foes—and beasts sent by an angry goddess. Set in ancient Greece 3,500 years ago, this is a tale blending magical realism with history, high adventure with discovery . . . and Itaweret’s determination to save her people while learning her heart’s desires and realizing her deeper purpose. I am ecstatic to announce that my debut novel, Priestess of the Lost Colony, is out today! You can purchase your very own copy, either digital or paperback, through the link below! PSA on commissions
This week, someone commissioned me to draw another user's creature design. Once I had drawn and posted it, the user who had created the original design told me they didn't want other artists making money off their designs. So I have had to take it down. From now on, I won't be accepting commissions to draw OCs or creatures that were designed by someone other than the commissioner. I've learned that the original artists who designed those characters or creatures may not appreciate it.
